the first column is rotella t6. the second,shaded, is the average for the 3 that were on my bike. the 3rd is mobil 1 4t10w40 . the 4th is honda gn4 20w50. the last, shaded, is the averages for all vtx 1300 that they have tested. the rotella t6 viscosity did break down but it wasnt enough to cause wear. and the metal levels in the test indicate ...There is nothing wrong with using synthetics as long as you use the type appropriate for bikes. Even Honda makes a synthetic so your mechanic is full of it except for the moly additive part. Amsoil and Royal Purple make good synthetics. Many people use Mobil 1 red cap.
