Jun 17, 2013 · The JD 290 is more similar to IH's earlier 249-250(A) 2-row planters than to the 56. I think the 56 was IH's last non-toolbar based 2-row planter. The 56 can have alot of options/upgrades added to it to make it a very nice/fancy planter. They were only available with hydraulic lift. Seed depth is simpler to control than with earlier planters.
