Th350 stock stall converter
I would get a higher stall converter. I also know someone that has to crank up their idle speed to keep the motor from dying with a stock v8 converter in a th350 with a stock 250 straight six. A 2200-2400 cheapy off the shelf converter will be fine and will get the car moving nicely from a stop. Most stock convertors stall around 1000 rpms. Most stock motors idle. at 6-800 rpms.

If you want to use a 2800 stall torque converter, you will have to change the rear gears to 3.73 at least. With the 2.73 rear gears and a 2800 stall converter there will be a lot of converter slippage at cruising speeds which will cause the trans to overheat.
